Sewing machine issues
Jul. 8th, 2005 11:42 amMy sewing machine has developed an issue. The straight stitch has gone all wonky and isn't straight anymore. Well, it will be straight for about 8 stitches or so, and then one stitch will be crooked like it wants to be a zig-zag. The special stitches work just fine and come out great, I never use those however!
Its a cheapo Kenmoore that my Grandma bought for me 4 years ago for $100 bucks. I just called the nearest sewing machine repair center, which is 50 miles away. It would cost me $100-$130 to get it serviced and would take 7-10 days to get the job done.
However, I just called the local Viking place and they are having a super-duper sale in a couple of days. There's another store in town that's a Pfaff and Bernina dealer. My parent's had a Viking that lasted 20+ years of heavy sewing, my Grandma's had a Bernina for 30 years.
I think tomorrow is test driving day for sewing machines, I want a good one that will last for 20 years and just do the basics.
Any suggestions or comments on a good machine?
