A good weekend

Well, I think it was and I feel that we may have broken our streak of bad Valentine's Day experiences.

Yesterday I dyed the wool for my new schaube, its currently a dark russety pink, I think it needs to be a darker shade of red, although it does look good with the beaver fur right now.

I need to start picking apart the beaver fur jacket to get it ready for sewing, oh what fluffy fun that's going to be!

Hadn't thought of that, but its probably a good idea, or a bandana over the nose and mouth.

Dark Russety Pink? Sounds like the Elizabethan color "carnation", which my husband and apprentice have decided is a drop-dead color for me. So I've bought a hunk of it for a simplified version of http://elizabethangeek.com/katrowberd/articles/elizabethan-colors/carnation3.jpg which I think is just too-damned-busy to reproduce exactly. I'll be using single ruffs, thank you very much, and no way will I be spewing those flowers all over my partlet and sleeves. Understated elegance is my motto.

Or am I misunderstanding your color?

Its definitly a carnation color, I just hadn't thought of that color name yet! Thanks for reminding me.

I was intending it to be a darker color, but I think I am going to leave it the color it is since it looks good on me and I like the color it is right now. That's the trouble with dyeing, sometimes things get better, sometimes they get worse!
