The New Website design
Jul. 12th, 2004 09:40 pmHere's a sneak peak at the new website design. I'm still trying to decide on the header, personally I like #2 the best, but I would like to hear your opinions on all of them. The last word in German will be changing as I have found the correct term now, but just haven't gotten to changing the graphics yet.

Let me know what you think, #1? #2? or #3?

About the menu below, I wouldn't use an imagemap. It's not at all necessary for what you are trying to do. If you want to ask me more about it later, let me know. (I teach web design.)

Date: 2004-07-13 02:51 pm (UTC)I think we are getting to how to format using CSS, but this is just the first pass on the design and not the final layout.
I would like a good font, ;) this was just the closest that I had that matched the font in the facsmiles that I have in the house. Should I send you an email with the text that I'd like in the graphic?

Date: 2004-07-13 09:28 pm (UTC)CSS is nifty and you will like it. It gives you so much more power than old-style web design.
You can e-mail me if you like. In the meantime, here are some samples I made:
This one uses a font that is based on Gutenberg's type, so it is definitely period but a little hard for English-speakers to read. (http://slumberland.org/temp/marion/marionsfrauenkleidung.gif)
This one is a bit modernized but still has a nice feel to it. (http://slumberland.org/temp/marion/marionsfrauenkleidung2.gif)
I would choose the Gutenberg, myself...
Agreed!
Date: 2004-07-14 12:23 am (UTC)I would like the text to read the following, and can you make it around 550 pixels wide?
Marion's Frauenkleidung und Haushaltzachen
The tag line in English I will do as seperate text.

Looking forward to seeing it completed!

Date: 2004-07-13 08:29 pm (UTC)#2 looks too much like standard Christmas card "Old English" rather than a good German Blackletter. Too widely spaced.
