The second position made me an offer today, they matched the other groups number, so it looks like I have a new job. I need to talk to my HR people about weither or not I can still get my education benefits if I leave early, but even if I can't I am still taking this new job. They have to do the background check and call references, so I don't have the offer in hand yet and I won't give notice yet.

They seem to be making a big deal about me giving two weeks notice... I don't understand. Yes, I am not really needed at my current job and I could walk out the door tomorrow and they wouldn't miss me, however... Two weeks is curtiousy and I don't intend to burn any bridges on leaving this job. You never know who you might run into in the future.

Woo hoo! Congrats! Good to hear people finding new & better jobs in this sucky economy.

I ran into something similar at my last place of work. I was the executive secretary (you'd think was high paying, but it wasn't) for a sizable medical laboratory for a year. They finally decided I wasn't good enough for them or whatever, and told me that I was going to be "let go". Mind you, they wouldn't fire me out right, but it took them SIX WEEKS to find a replacement, and that was only after I got fed up, and had another offer on table. I finally had to give THEM 2 weeks notice so I could get the heck outta there.

BTW, Marion, this was Interpath Labs. LOL. My new boss calls that place a "sweatshop", and I'm inclined to agree! Dagnabbit I'm all chatty today. Woo.

Thanks! I am so psyched about this new job, however being home on vacation has been VERY nice this last week. Makes me not want to go back to work tomorrow or EVER. *sigh* Oh well.
I don't plan on working after we have kids so I may as well enjoy the time of life I am in right now and be thankful for the new job.

i loooooove notice! the trick is to piss of the people you work for just enough when you leave that they put you on garden leave (you are still an employee and can't start a new job, but you work your notice from your garden - or home couch/bed)! I am typically on three months - I try and bargin for the last month to be garden leave so I can have a break and go in clean to the next project.

Hehe That's what I am going to try and do. Well, not the piss off part, but I have a week's worth of vacation to use up before I leave this job and I really would like to spend it at home and at my sewing machine.
