Crossroads and choices
Oct. 27th, 2004 07:10 pmI'm at a crossroads with the Schaube project, I could do several things with the lining fabric and I'm not sure which one to choose:
The outer fabric is a dark red claret wool twill. The collar and parts that will show will be covered in Beaver fur, so the lining probably won't even matter or show much. I would post pictures, but every single time I've taken pictures of the red and the fur it washes it out and makes it look bad.
Here are pictures of the yellow linen mockup/interlining if I use the brown silk or other fine fabrics.
The Front
The Back
Should I:
A- Line it with the pretty brown shimmery silk that was bought to line it? Even though it looks stunning on me and would look great as a dress?
The brown silk on me
B - Line it with a pale yellow linen that also looks good on me and good with the dark red?
Red with yellow
C - Line it with the yellow linen but cover the parts that will show when I'm not wearing the fur with something nicer and richer looking?

D - Use another fabric already in my possesion to line it with. ( I really *REALLY* don't need to buy ANYMORE fabric, and I would actually use fabric that I already own.)

Date: 2004-10-28 06:20 am (UTC)It reminds me of a story about a famous Hollywood director that insisted on fabulous undergarments for his key actors. When it was remarked that no one would ever see the wonderful undergarments, his reply was; True. But, you'll know you're wearing them, and it will add to your performance!
I feel the same about linings, and lovely unseen things in costumes...you'll know they are there...and it will look rich and plush and lovely, and you will even move differently because of it.
That's just me groats' worth...for what it's worth. Cheers m'dear.
Can't wait to see it all done!
