First off, I am just glad that its over, that its been settled by the voters and not by the lawyers. Thankful that John Kerry was a gentleman and not a sore loser. I'm certain that if George Bush had been in the same situation he would have conceeded in a polite gentleman like fashion. Please, don't be sore losers.

Second,

For those of you whose party didn't win and now feel that you are in open season for ridecule, WTH? Not from this person.

There's a reason that I don't post political stuff on LJ anymore, cause I did once and got slammed to the wall by just everybody on my friends list and off. I don't hate non-Republicans and people who don't agree with me, I'm not going to blast you with vitrol and light you on fire. I don't hate your leaders with a visceral hate that eats away my soul. I listen to what you have to say and can understand your positions on things. I read left and right leaning media and blogs and come to my own conclusions, do you?

There really is nothing keeping you in this country, we aren't an old Soviet bloc country with guards at the borders to keep people in. If you feel that strongly that the country has gone down the tubes and is in for disaster for the next 4 or longer years, find someplace better and move there. But I'm not certain that Canada is any better right now, and its certainly colder in the winter!

I am trying to filter my political post to prevent you & a few others from reading them. However i don't think it is working & I am sorry if you have to read it.

I love you regardless of your beliefs, but try to understand to see from our point of view. My heart is still breaking.

I'm registered decline to state. I didn't make up my mind who to vote for until 2 weeks before the election. I intentionally didn't announce my long deliberated decision because I have the extreme left and right on my friends list. I feel everyone should be left to their own politics, that arguing with someone who's made their mind up is pointless.

Living in San Francisco and having been grilled and chastised for supporting our troops by wearing a yellow ribbon (by people who knew my husband was in the Army) I've realized the value of respecting other people's religion. I would get dirty looks for wearing that ribbon. But I also saw people who I knew participated in the huge anti-war protests moderate their language and rhetoric around me, knowing my situation.

I'm fine with people mouthing off in their own journals about politics. Just don't bring into mine.

When I re-read my comment in the email notifying me of your response I noticed I wrote "religion" rather than politics.

I feel the same way about both so it was a bit of a Freudian slip!

What are you and your husband doing the weekend of the 13th? We're having a big house warming party (he hates parties thrown for him, hence it's a "house warming" party), would you like to come? It will probably be potluck, as my MIL initial family only estimate was 40 people. And with that many I can invite however more I'd like to. We'll be having it in the social room of my building.

What time are you having it at? Matt's all for it, but we still need to work out the logistics.

I'll try not to be a sore loser if you'll try not to ship me off to Canada :)

I never said anything about interning you to the frozen wastelands of Siberia, oops scratch that should be Canada.

Besides, if you read the article that I linked to in my later posts, it doesn't really sound like they want you anyway...

Not without a job first, yeah.

But no, I want [livejournal.com profile] glasseye to make enough money to pay the fees & become an American citizen, and I want my brother-in-law who fell in love with a Christian girl when he was a teenager in Iran, quarreled over her with the local police chief, and had to flee the country to become an American citizen, and I want to know that's more than a pretty piece of paper.

During my studies i lived in a 2nd world nation for a year. Despite not liking the current political situation here I must agree that this is still a _heck_ of a better place to be than most of the rest of the world.
