Took a good look at the calendar today and realized that I was just going to have to buy Lynn McMaster's hat patterns if I was going to have decent stuff to sell at the RenFaire guild booth in September. Now, I realize that its only the end of May, but I have a serious amount of sewing that needs to happen in the next month for the faire at the end of June, and then for September too, and I don't really know anything about hat making, so I just clicked on the button and bought the patterns.

I really CAN'T do everything from scratch, I think I can, and probably given enough time I could, but I don't have the time to make mistake after mistake drafting my own hat patterns.

Got the petticoat cut out, sewn and ready for pleating last night and this morning. I was thinking of doing something fancy like taking one of the Alcega patterns and using that, but then I decided, just do something simple for once and at least get ONE outfit done. The petticoat/underskirt is made out of the striped linen, 103" long, sewn into a tube. I am going to do the box pleats tonight, and maybe pad it out with light wool, need to check on how it would look.

I have too many good ideas floating around in my head, I decide on one thing and then change my mind, its so hard to just stick with one and go with it. Like the guards on my sister's dress. I ordered the brown velvet yesterday and the brown wool too.
First I was thinking of just doing velvet, then it might be too much velvet for a middle class, so then I was thinking of just doing strips of wool and velvet for the guards, but then I thought about doing diagonal strips of velvet on the wool( like a barber pole, and chevroning down the front of the dress), then about velvet slip applique's.

But, this dress has to be done and on her body on the 28th of June, so I am now back to the strips of wool and velvet idea, although the diagonal strips may make an appearence in a dress later.

I do like the sleeves on this dress on the ladies in waiting on the left, the pink and green ones. Although she has said that she doesn't want sleeves, so maybe I will do the shoulder treatment like this, except with little strips of brown velvet or wool along the edges of the shoulder panes which would be done in the same light green as the dress.

I have too many ideas and not really enough time/resources/energy to make them.
