Since I'm a military newlywed as well, my questions are going to focus around that. I'm in the exact same boat (Army though) as you, we were married Sept 14th, and he's been home about 2 months.
1. Was your husband in the military when you married him?
Yes he was, otherwise we wouldn't have met at all. He is from Maine and a real East coaster, so if it hadn't been for the Navy posting him in Everett, he never would have been here for me to meet.
2. Do you sewing is a good way to alleviate thinking about him too?
Yes, that's exactly why I do it! Actually the process of creation is what keeps me busy, makes the time go by sooo much faster.
3. How have you been handling it? (be honest . . . I can relate)
We email each other once a day, back and forth. That helps a LOT. Occasional phone calls are really nice too. I kind of knew what it was going to be like going in since he was gone a lot while we were dating, but not nearly so long. I really just try to take it one day and one month at a time. I don't dwell on him being gone, I wish he was hear, but I have my own life and friends and purposefully keep myself busy, active and out doing things. If I am busy, I don't miss him as much. It helps that I am pretty independant and self-relient, I traveled around the world before I met him and lived without him for 27 years, I can handle 7 months.
4. I'm being stationed in Germany in about a month, do you want me to start forwarding you images?
Sure! I am such an image hound, I love looking at stuff on the web.
5. And last but not least, why German clothing?
LOL! Yes, why? Well, I was looking for a project to start and Drea put up the Tailor's book of Enns (which is from Austria actually) and I decided to make one of the dresses out of there. Which got me started into German research, and the next thing I know I can't seem to get out of it. I kinda want to get more into the Alcega Spanish stuff, but I have too many projects on the German side for right now. Hmmm... German social climbing merchants wife who took a trip to Spain with her husband and came back with the new styles.
The funny thing is, I can't hardly read German, but I can read French and Spanish.
