Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
You are 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing'. You take
Christmas very seriously. For you, it is a
religious festival, celebrating the birth of
the Saviour, and its current secularisation
really irritates you. You enjoy the period of
Advent leading up to Christmas, and attend any
local carol services you can find, as well as
the more contemplative Advent church services
each Sunday. You may be involved in Christmas
food collections or similar charity work. The
midnight service at your church, with candles
and carols, is one you look forward to all
year, and you also look forward to the family
get together on Christmas Day.

What Christmas Carol are you?

So I decided that I would just go later period for now, if I have time I may whip out a 1500ish dress for comforts sake, they don't look that complicated.

Finish already started
-Farthingale
-Smock

New projects
-New corset (Black silk outside, peach linen on the inside, weedwacker line for the stiffening)
-Schaube (Big warm coatey thing with large fur collar, dark red wool with mink fur)
-Goldhaube (Gold silk satin, embroidered with black silk thread and pearls)
-Cute little black velvet hat, decorated with gold washed brass beads

Still not sure about the color scheme of the outside garments. I have a great idea (and the fabric for) a really cool doublet made out of this brilliant green silk and velvet trim, its based off of a grave find from 1574. The original is a man's garment, but its such a gorgeous piece!

-Petticoat/Underskirts (silk tafetta)
-Skirt (with banding, not sure what color)
-Doublet (probably green silk with black velvet trim)
-Jerkin (Slashed satin, like the original?)
The goal of all these projects is to use fabric that is already in my possesion, no buying new fabric unless its been determined that what I have just won't work at all.

Today Ysabelot, E and I had our Diversity Holiday outing, Pagan, Jewish and Christian respectively. We went downtown and rode the carousel, got Frango's and looked at all sorts of really cool stuff in the little shops in Westlake Mall. Then we headed over to Nordy's and had a nice little snack at their cafe. Then we hopped on the bus and came home. We all had a nice fun time. Plus I know what I'm getting Ysabelot for the gift exchange. ;)

After I got home I pulled some stuff together and went to got pick up A for fencing. I totally forgot to eat dinner, this most likely contributed to the sucky night at fencing, but it wasn't the whole cause. We had a different instructor than last week and I totally HATE his style. 15 mins of "No", "Wrong, do it this way", "Wrong again", "No, NO, NO!", is enough to bring anybody down, I like to know that I'm at least doing ONE thing right. I mean, I KNOW my foil technique sucks majorly, which is why I HATE foil and prefer Epee, fewer bad habits and better technique, plus I hate losing points in foil because of stupid right of way.
To top things off, I lost the coin toss so we are stuck doing foil for the rest of the stinking month.

Free fencing was good though, starting to use some of the new techniques that I'm learning begrudginly in the lessons and if my opponents didn't have so many dead spots in their jackets I would score more points in the bouts.

Next time I really need to remember to eat dinner before I go, I really will have a better time, stupid blood sugar. Grrrrr.
