Oooooooh!

The silk/poly blend tafetta fabric that I ordered last week has arrived. It is in a word, Yummy!. I can't feel the poly in it and the moire effect on the green is ever so subtle, a really good deal for $4.50 a yard. Right now I'm looking through the rest of it on the website, looking to see if there's any other colors that I just can't live without.

Here's the page with the good fabric deals on silk blends.

In other project news, I'm starting to line up my costuming projects for my quarter break. A whole month off of school! The indexing and searching program that I'm using for one of my classes is pretty cool, and very useful since I loaded up all the translated texts from Textiler Hausrat! I can select any word out of the word index and it goes off and finds every instance of it in all the files. Unfortunatly it costs $199 a license, but I have an eval copy for 30 days, so I'm hoping to get plenty of good use out of it before the license goes bad.

Chains

Inquiring minds want to know about SCA regulations on chains, specifically gold chains...

As I am sure you can probably figure out if you look at any German portrait in the 16th century, the ladies are all wearing chains or heavy gold jewelry. Of course I want a necklace, what woman doesn't want pretty sparkly things?

So, to keep me out of trouble with the you know whos.. What is allowed when it comes to chains? Is it just unbroken chains that aren't allowed or is it anything gold and link like around the neck?
