I just read in ciorstan's LJ and on the SCA Card Weaving list, that Halima de la Lucha had died in a car accident earlier this week. I had met Mistress Halima, and had been present at court for her elevation to OL. I went off to the West History list to make sure that the Halima I knew was the same one who died, since there is always that little bit of hope that perhaps it will be someone else instead.

But no.....
It really was her.

I had chatted with her several times at events, most memoriably at June Crown last year and feasted with her at other events. She was a very nice woman, if slightly reserved at times. She did beautiful card weaving and was always friendly towards me. I last saw her at the White Shield feast in March, she left after the first course as she had quite a drive home. She will be missed.
