I had my 24 week appointment for the baby today. The doctor thinks the California doctor may have gotten the dates wrong since I'm a couple weeks bigger than he thinks I should be, so he's ordered a special ultrasound.

I also had that horrible glucose test today, I bet it comes back positive for gestational diabeties since I ate a lot of sugary stuff before I went into to see the doctor. Brownies and 2 big glasses of juice are probably not what I should have been eating, but it sure tasted good. :) If it is positive, I get the fasting 12 hour test next month.

But the baby seems to be moving well, not any noticible body parts yet, just the occasional soft touch or push. Sometimes it likes to do full body stretches across the middle, and those hurt, but nothing too painful yet.

On the weight gain front, I'm holding steady at 20 pounds so far. I gained 10 pounds the month we moved, so I'm hoping to keep the gain to a reasonable yet healthful level by eating better and doing lots of walking. So far this tactic seems to be working well.

Here's hoping you don't have to put up with GDM during your pregnancy!

That glucose test is evil. I ate nothing before it and it came back positive. I had gestational diabetes with Katie as well. I'm glad you are ok though

Henry was measuring big toward the end, but if anything, I think he was younger than they thought. They base the ultrasound off of the head size and a couple of other factors, and he has a *huge* head. My belly was measuring large as well.

Was your LMP date possibly messed up?

My LMP dates are always messed up, I have really irregular periods. I think I know when I concieved, and that would be about 45 days after the start of my LMP. Unfortunatly, the medical establishment doesn't think that women should have odd cycles, just nice 28-30 day ones. I wish!

Babies in my family tend to run in the 8.5-9.5 lb range, with really big heads, so who knows what the new ultrasound will show.

I gained 8 kilos with Maja, but then I was overweight when I started, and she weighed 4 kilos.
I gained 14 with the twins, but then I started out thinner. They weighed about the same as Maja together, but you almost the double amount of water, an extra placenta etc.

When I was pregnant at 39 my doc told me the best way to avoid gd was to walk. I didn't listen and was diagnosed. But afterwards walking was the way I kept by blood glocose under 120. Start walking at least 3 miles each day now and you may luck out.

Hated that test never failed it no matter how many sodas I slugged down prior to the test. The last one was the worst had a horrible hyper/oglycemic(never can remember which is the one where you crash horribly) attack several hours after the test as I had gotten terribly busy that day with appointments and errands and crashed hard while renting videos at a store. I looked like a chocolate junkie in harsh need of a fix while trying to tear the wrapper off a Kit Kat bar and shove it in my mouth damn near whole all the while shaking like I was a one woman earthquake. So in other words your test should be fine!
