Toddlers at play: OMG... if the woman wasn't wearing clothes that just scream "Renaissance", I'd believe it was a modern day illustration - that kindof walking cart just looks so modern to me.
Very interesting that people had just the same ideas 500 years ago.
It's these enlightening moments that I love costuming and reenactment for. :)

I thought that was interesting as well. I've seen it before on cradles in art from this period, I don't think it had the meaning then that it does now.

Well, in a way it had. It was a a protective sign used in folk magic, or wahtever you call it, superstition maybe. And it's a protective sign now too, at least that's one of its uses. In Lödöse, close to where I live thye have a 13th century wooden bowl with a pentagram carved in it.
