Nov. 7th, 2006 04:28 pmFor my Swedish reading friends....
Can you tell me if text describing the garments re-created at the following link mention if they are based on actual extant garments or are a best guess based on the art work?

Date: 2006-11-07 04:50 pm (UTC)The mail collar is said to be made after several finds. The lining is eight layers of linen quilted together.
The jacket is partly based on Urs Graf's "satire auf die Laster der Landsknechte", 1515/1520, Basel
They don't give a source for the shirt. Myself I'm not sure if shirts really were made with raglan sleeves in the 16th century, all examples that I have seen have "normal" sleeves, but you propably know this much better.
The sword is a replica of a find from Sweden.
They say that the bag/pouch is untypical for landesknechts, but that the type was common in the early 16th century.
No source is given for the pluderhosen.
The socks are made with knotless netting (naalebinding) and is not based on a particular find. There is however a swedish find of a sock in this technique, from the 15h century.
No source is given for the shoes.
Nor is there a source for the cloak.
