Vintage Vouge
Jan. 16th, 2007 10:01 amHere's some vintage Vogue, or what should be vintage Vogue if there was truth in advertising, circa 1985? '84?
Yup, the dropped waist shirtdress has made a reappearence. ACK!
I do like this dress, although I'd never make it in gingham, too stressful, although the effect is cool.

Date: 2007-01-16 07:49 pm (UTC)"We need a new fashion mistake for this year... any ideas?"
"How about moving the waist seam to the widest part of a woman's butt! Then we can have a nice horizontal line to accent the girth, while creating a huge vertical that completely hides any sign of a waistline."
"Sounds great! It'll look fabulous on our stick-thin models, but horrible on anyone with any trace of a curve to their body - ideal!"
"And while we're at it, why don't we resurrect the prairie shirt with the big chest and shoulder ruffles?"
"Let's not get too carried away..."
I LOVE the effect with the gingham, but that's way too fussy a sewing job for this toddler-mom and almost-baby-mom.
