Love the historical research

I love doing historical research, but sometimes you run across the perfect picture that illustrates a point you thought was correct,  but then you can't use the picture, for obvious reasons...

Case in point: A good picture that shows the men's underwear actually does just untie on on one side and the other side is a loop.

Why am I hesitent to use this? Well its a biblical illustration that shows Abraham circumcising all the males in his household. And its a little on the squickish side, but I love the expression of the guy on the left,  makes me bust up laughing. 

Of course I'm not a guy, so this isn't funny for them.
The underwear in question is on the guy on the far right.

No plans...just saying it would be fun for documenting men drawers! I can just see the expression on the judges faces! As I have no men to sew for, the point's really moot. But the thought cracks me up!

LOL, it would be a great one for competition documentation. I'll have to keep it in the library for that use as I'm working on pulling the stuff together to make a pair.

Not only is the motif somewhat disturbing, I actually find tanga briefs on men rather disgusting too. I think I'll keep my man in c. 1300 garb, when braies were big enough to housetwo men and reached below the knees ;)

Now, at least here. You know, two triangles and a string. When I worked as a life guard at a swimming pool back in teh late 80s I had to see one obese, paler-than-white man in neon greentanga "swim trunks" (using the word losely here).

Eeeew! We have a few of those here, but not many. Most guys who are that obese wear big swim trunks, not speedos.

One would have thought that they'd understand how a circumscision works. They almost look like they're doing a castration instead of a circ. (I *HATED* doing circs. I used to cry during the procedure. And after a father passed out, I never let them "observe" again unless they had a "minder." *My* mind had to be on his son, not the lug who sired him!)

He's circumciseing himself, its what Jewish men are commanded to do to set themselves apart for God. Its not too bad when its done to infants but as an adult it would be incrediably painful...

Um, it is a great find though... maybe you could digitize their naughty bits? Or stragegically place little fig leaves in green so people would know they were added?
