Parry 4th, Parry 6th, Riposte!
May. 8th, 2003 09:39 pmI love fencing! Not only can you work up a good sweat, but it is so much more mind engaging than aerobics. I missed last week due to the bad headache, so one of the teaching assistants was assigned to teach me 6th position parry, disengages and the stuff I missed from last week. Then after a bit we got to fence. I am no match yet for the good fencers, but I seem to be very good at defense, so the less experienced ones had a hard time getting touches on me. I knew those long arms and legs would come in handy some day, I can be a further distance from them, block and then lunge out and get 'em. I think I am going to spend my birthday money from the in-laws on getting a set of fencing gear, having a cooler jacket to fence in would be so very nice, right now the fleece gets a little warm.
I need to pack for my trip tomorrow and then its off to bed for me. On second thought, maybe I will skip the packing and head straight for bed.

Date: 2003-05-09 10:05 am (UTC)A few years later I found archery and decided that it didn't get much better than that. I love archery. I should really invest in some good gear and start making an effort to shoot on a regular basis, because all I ever do these days is the cheesy archery range at ren faires. Still, I keep winning free rounds so it keeps me occupied for a while... ;)

Date: 2003-05-09 11:31 am (UTC)You should definitly take up archery again, its good excercise for the arms and would get you out of the house. Hehe, I can just see you now, petite and in some great orangy gold gown with a french hood, winning round after round at the archery range.
