mmcnealy: (Enn's)

Today was my last day at the job that just wasn't me. I am so glad that its over with. My co-workers were grateful that I had stayed on as long as I had since it gave them time to take some vacation and for me to finish up a couple of uber simple automation projects.

Then I came home, chatted with my Mom, got groceries and got started working on the stewed quinces that have been in the fridge for a while. They were still good amazinly and I ran them through the food mill and made thick pulpy. For pies, I cooked some of the pulp with port wine, a little sugar and some cinnamon.

After the pie shells were filled and in the oven, I nibbled on a little bit of the leftover filling. Oh man is that good stuff!

Matt called tonight and we got a great talk in on the phone. He will be home in 10 days, I am so thrilled I can barely stand it.

Back to working on sleeves for the Enn's dress. Its gonna be freaking freezing tomorrow, and its at a school so no bets on them having the heat up. I am bringing my short cape and a fox fur collar off of one of my vintage coats.

Hurrah for us! I absolutly felt at peace walking out of there, it felt weird to think of not being there on Monday with all the craziness. But it was good to be done and finished with the things that needed to be finished.

Its going to be so nice to be able to sleep in past 5:30 am tomorrow!

Quince are *incredible*. One of my dad's neighbors had a MASSIVE quince tree that we'd steal fruit over the fence from. 2001 was a wonderful year for Quince, but the new owners of the house CUT THE TREE DOWN! *sniff*

My dad is now going to plant his own tree.

Quince is devine! It is now my favorite pie fruit. I definitly want my own quince tree some day, its on the "To be planted someday" list when we get a house.
