Saw "Love Actually" today with YC and E. The movie is sooo very good. It takes place in London and France in the last 5 weeks before Christmas and follows at least 10 (?) interwoven love stories throughout peoples lives. Love between a husband and wife, between children and parents, between the Prime Minister and the tea cart girl. Its all beautifully interwoven and very enjoyable. I rate it a A for plot and an A++ for having Colin Firth in it.

Yes, HG plays the PM, rather brilliantly too. I was very happy to see him out of his usual cliche roles.

I loved that movie!!!! Oh, lord... It was glorious, wasn't it?! I was talking to someone yesterday (a middle aged woman, actually) who said they hated it because it was "too boring". WTF? There's no acounting for taste, I guess.

I loved it too, it was so wonderful! Too boring? Why because there were no car crashes and nobody died? It was anything but boring because it didn't fall into all the typical movie cliches.

I must say I can't wait until the dvd for the Additional 80 minutes. I got to thinking last night after the movie That The Laura Linney character (the ameriacn w/ a crush on Carl) did have love. We are at first left thinking that she didn't get what she wanted, but in the opening line of the movie HG says something about love not being exactly where you thought it was & LL proved that. Oh, & of course Colin Firth (hubba hubba)-YC

Yeah, she had the love of her brother. That was what the story was trying to illustrate... I wish I could say more without giving off any spoilers, but Laura Linney's character's story has been one of those stick-with-you moments for me. That, and Carl looked a lot like Natan when we first met (except for the glasses... But the hot bod, great tan, the hair... *swoon*).

I'm *so* getting the DVD!!!

I would agree with this, her character and her love story is one of the things that I like most about the movie, its *so* realistic, down to earth. so not a Hollywood ending.

I mean how many people do you know of who have had to sacrifice for their families and put off their own dreams?
