Doublet progress report
Dec. 28th, 2003 09:20 pmOver the last 3 days I have made tremendous progress on the doublet, Friday I did the fitting, yesterday I did a second fitting since the first had so many alterations and cut out the three layers, outer fabric, cream silk garbadine, white linen interlining, light grey wool lining for the body and the padding for the sleeves and a gold silk lining for the sleeves.
Today I have worked on sewing it all together, all the machine sewing is done and its on to the handsewing and the detail work to finish it up. I am hoping to finish it up tomorrow and get the skirts cut out and hopefully hemmed while my Mom is here to help me hem them. The inner skirt will be made out of the pale gold silk that the sleeves are lined in, the outer will be out of brown taffeta with black velvet bands.
Matt's decided that I need dedicated sewing time each and every day to make the goal of getting it all done before 12th night. Doesn't help that my family is here till Tuesday and Matt's parents come on Friday and stay until Wednesday.
