I am so tired..... but very happy that I went to 12th night, the effort was decidely worth it.

To tide you all over till tomorrow when I can write more about what happened, here's the rundown.

-Met Serena, lovely lady wonderful costumes.
-Won the Advanced catagory in the An Tir Costumer's Guild 12th night costume contest, Ysabelot won in the Novice catagory.
-Talked to lots of folks and had a great time.
-Watched lots of Laurels being made and Pelican's hatched.
-Learned I can drive in my farthingale.

Here's a teaser pic of my award winning outfit, and the engraving that inspired it. Enjoy, and yes, there will be updates to my website SOON! I swear there will be, I can't sew any more until my hands feel better and aren't so fumbly with a needle, plus I need to get it updated, its starting to look disgracefully neglected.

Thanks!
I don't have a stick but I probably could have driven in that too. The key factor in all of this is that my hoops are made of reed, so they flex and then go back to their shape.

Thanks, I love it too, just wish the hem wasn't quite such a floor sweeper. Oh well, something to work on next gown.

Oh, it's gorgeous! I love both Jost Amman and Hans Weigel's Trachtenbuch. Our library doesn't have Jost Amman, but they do have Hans Weigel and nobody else seems to want it so I've had it for two years now. And the "harzkappa" (swedish 16th c word for the short coat) is perfect. I've been trying to convince people that they need to make those because they look so funny (and were so popular in Sweden), but this far with little success.
Congratulations to the prize!

I love that little coat, it was so SO easy to make and its just the perfect over layer to keep you warm, its also very comfortable. Definitly going to make more of these. Jost Amman is just wonderful, he and Hans Weigel were just the most detailed costumer helper's ever!

Well... I was working (getting caught up on a big pile of mail orders, and prepping for the first day of the quarter since I'm teaching again). So great isn't exactly the word. ;) But it's nice to be home. There was no way I could have gotten home from the trip and then turned right back around and gone to 12th Night. It would have killed me!

Lovely. I love that woodcut, but I never quite understood the doublet. *looking forward to notes on construction*

There will be notes on construction as well as pics of the patterns, just not today. I am still so very sleepy even after all the sleep I got last night and this morning.
