Open fencing and footwork
Jan. 19th, 2004 10:20 pmTonight A and I went to the Monday night fencing footwork class and then to open fencing afterwards, we were trying to go to the women's Epee practice, but all the women epeeists were at a competition this last weekend and they were taking the night off.
Footwork was really good though, did the basics and then about 8 different types of lunges down the strips. 30 mins of lunging, advancing, retreating, then lunging again. My legs are going to be hurting tomorrow and I am so sooo tired. I came home and took a hot bath with epsom salts so hopefully that should help with the soreness tomorrow.
Open fencing was ok.... I fenced Matt who is in the intermediate Epee class right now, was working on getting arm shots and let him win the bout because I was trying to work on technique and not wipe the floor with him. I then fenced Anders, an exchange student from Sweden, I got 4 touches to his 20 and was very proud at getting ANY on him. Geesh, he was SO VERY GOOD! and I fenced crappily compared to him, but if I fenced him again, he would have to work harder on getting touches, I've been analyzing his attacks. We could have stayed longer and fenced more, but my ankles and left foot were acting up and A was tired. It was still a good night though.
