Decisions, decisions
Apr. 5th, 2004 06:37 pmI can't remember if I've posted this here or not, but Matt and I are moving to Monterey, CA. in June so he can go to grad school. I am really going to miss Seattle and my life here, coffee, so many friends..... OK, I'd better stop now.
Anyway, when we move to Monterey, I am finding a job so I can contribute to the family income, not be so depressed about money and my lack of usefullness and afford to continue on with grad school. The darn program is meant to be taken while your working already, so its not like the work load is all that bad anyway, 6 hours a week is about what it takes, maximum, for two classes. Plus, I think I'm taking the summer off of school, not sure we can afford for me to take classes, grad school sure rips through the savings super fast!
Two jobs that I found on Monster.com that I have the experience and qualifications for, and would be a nice interesting challenge, but not so much that I wouldn't have a life after work.
ISCS, possibly a little more than I really want to get into, sounds like a smallish company, could be good, could be very bad.

Adaptec, This one sounds exactly like the type of work that I *love* to do and am good at. I am so _tempted_ to apply right now, but I don't know how far away this office is from where we will be living, so I need to do some more research first.

Date: 2004-04-06 02:27 am (UTC)The only thing about living in that neck of the woods is that I felt pretty cut off from the rest of Northern California. It takes a good 3 hours to get to Sacramento from Santa Cruz (and Monterey is on the other side of the bay from there, about 30 miles or so away) and about 2 hours to get to San Francisco. If you go south, you get mostly coastal towns until you hit San Luis Obispo, which isn't that major of a city. For all the love I have of the coast and little coastal towns, I'm still a city girl when it comes down to it, so I felt rather isolated living down there.

I know the area reasonably well, I could show you around if you'd like.

Date: 2004-04-07 09:37 pm (UTC)I'm hoping to find some kind of work, if its not in the industry that I've been in, not a big deal. I'd love to find work in a library, that would be ideal for starting my career switch.
