I had such high hopes for today. Today was supposed to be the day I finally felt better and was able to bounce out of bed and start conquering the growing mountain of work that is the flakey Dr.'s final paper. I was going to go to UW today and hit the libraries and photocopy about 20 papers then leap over the stadium in a single bound.....
Yah, OK, so that didn't happen.
Yesterday I felt great, today I didn't feel so great. I wish my body would figure out if its sick or if its well, cause right now I'm confused! Sick? Well? Sick again? Make up your mind already!
So no schoolwork got accomplished, but guess what YC? I got more work done on the most secret of secret projects.... The other half is now painted and I have a 1/4 of the one we did yesterday embroidered. So who knows what you'll find done when you come on Tuesday, eh?
Last night was Nashira's senior gallery opening at SPU's exhibition hall. Her stuff was fabuleous! I love her wire work sculpture. The Guerilla Snack Brigade turned out with good stuff too.
History behind the GSB (Guerilla Snack Brigade):
When Nashira first told us about the opening of her exhibit, the first thing out of my mouth was, "You must allow me to bring appropriate art gallery snacks!"
Then I was informed that M, one of the other students displaying stuff insisted on NO OTHER SNACKS because he thought it would detract from the meager cookies and juice that he was going to give out as part of his performence art act.
What? No nice art gallery snacks?
"Ha!" Said I, and formed the GSB.
The GSB turned out quite well last night, with a shrimp party tray, a bag of nice chocolates and a good box of cookies. We gained a new member in the form of Nashira's instructor who had 'forgot' about M's demand and provided his own cookies, nuts and punch.
Ha! Ha! Down with demanding imperious art students!
M's performance art was really really bad, beyond bad. It was so bad I can't even begin to know where to start describing. Let's just say that it went on for 55+ countries of
"[Insert name of country here] is selling her, trading her, buying her unwanted children" set to the tune of London bridge is falling down, as a form of protest against children being sold into slavery or forced to go to work so their families could eat. Plus there was a felt board map of the world done in economic terms and he would stick a felt square for each of the countries, except he kept not being able to find the right square! The electric keyboard player got bored of playing so he just kept hitting the major melody key of the guy's voice.
Went on for long enough that I got caught up with all my friends, got the skinny on their friends and their new boyfriends, family, animals and and exchanged lots of sarcastic performance art comments.
It was a very good night.
