Yesterday's event was a learning experience to say the least. I think that's the LAST mixed sex Epee event that I will ever willingly fence it. I was the only woman in my pool of 7, the smallest too, and got clobbered, badly! If I got one touch in a match, that was stupendeous!
I didn't even come close to winning any bouts until my first DE round when I was finally fencing another woman and I lost it 14-15. The results haven't been posted online yet, but I think I'm about 32 out of 35. Steller day. (NOT!) Marla, however, got the little bottle of champagne that I brought for the SAS U-rated girl who came in lowest. There was a three way tie for 32nd place, Marla, Mary and I. Marla and Mary had a DE together and Mary won 15-2.
I was also kind of on the sick side because I ate something new, that should have been safe to eat but wasn't, so not only did I not do well fencing I felt sick. I would have had a better, more productive day if I had stayed home and worked on the paper. Today it was a fun time, but yesterday it was the pits. I think that I *love* fencing, but hate competeing, especially when there is no hope of winning.
I did get a really cool shirt from a friend as a going away present. It has a movie rating label, but it says "U Fencer", underneath it says "This fencer not yet rated" Very, very cute.
Came home and took a nice nap and went to a friends birthday party. He loved the remote control car that we gave him. It was nice to get him something that made him smile and that he didn't already have.
Matt's getting home today! ;) A little late due to airplane problems in Chicago, but home none the less.
Time to get off the computer, get cleaned up and breakfasted, find directions to yet another birthday party at lunchtime and just get generally organized for the day. At least its not raining and appears to be somewhat sunny.
