Bored stiff
May. 27th, 2004 02:02 pmI wish it would stop raining, then I could go for a walk and get away from the paper of doom. Maybe I'll take a break and work on stuff for the other class.... Nah, I'd lose my train of thought on this thing. I have gotton quite a bit of progress made though.
Anybody have any costuming/fit/knitting/history/research questions they want to ask me to distract me from this thing and the sounds of Matt cleaning?

Date: 2004-05-28 02:32 am (UTC)Do you remember your diameter and radius of a circle math?
I took my waist measurement and added NO ease. The waistline of the skirt will be on the bias and so it will stretch. If you add ease it will be too loose and slip down around the hips, voice of experience here.
Waist measurement *2 = Total circumfrence of circle
Total circumfrence / 3.1416 (Pi) = Diameter of the circle
Diameter /2 = Radius of circle.
This Radius is how far you measure from the corner of the fold, so you make a little 1/4 circle from the point.
For the bottom measurement of the skirt, add the skirt length to the radius measurement and measure down from the point for that set of marks.
Good link to help explain the math part
