I have decided to work on making a partlet for the Enn's gown, since it needs something to make it decent for the period standards. I am currently putting in the gathering stitches to make one that looks like this

The current approach that I am taking is gathering in 4 lines a strip of linen that is 12" wide and about 66" long. The first line creates the small frill, the next three create the collar. I have one side of the gathers run and need to start the other side. I am using 3.5 oz linen from fabric-store.com, boy does it have a TON of body too it. Hopefully it will turn out well, otherwise I will just make one that looks like this

There are a couple of theories about this type of garment shown in the picture, one group says that its a partlet, one group says that its an overshirt. I think it could actually be either one. At home I have a picture of a young girl where her neck area is covered by a partlet in a goldish colored fabric and the smock ruffles at her wrists are pure white with blackwork. I also just got a book from the library showing a smock that looks a lot like a modern sundress with a square necked bodice and gathered skirt attached, with little blouses that go over the top.
