Tab update

Last night I got all 13 waist tabs cut out, sewn, turned and pressed. They are now ready to be either decorated or sewn to the bodice. I am still not sure about the decorative style I want to take with this.... I could go all out with the glizty yarn I got, but this dress is just saying simple yet elegant.

I drafted the shoulder wings and tabs out of PoF, using the loose gown in the back for an example. I literally was able to lift them right out of the diagrams size wise, but changed the number of tabs as I am being stingy with my time right now and trying to minimize the amount of handwork this dress is going to eat up. That is probably unfair to my sister, but if the dress was made out of more period fabrics, I would feel differently. Does that sound snarky?

Today I have been cleaning out my files, folders and boxes in my desk. Finding remnents of projects from the distant and recent past. Old notebooks with meeting notes important and not.... All go into the recycle box. Almost 6 years of work, with its accompining heartaches, frustrations, joys, sorrows, long hours plus occasional weekends....into the waste basket. Saying good-bye to the old friends that are left, not too many people left to remember the little details that can save your rear in certain situations.

I know that the things I have built here will continue to live on after I leave, but its still kind of sad to walk away from what have essentially been my children for the last few years.

I thought that eating lunch would make me feel better, I think it made me feel worse, that and finishing up the clean up. The pictures are still on the wall, I won't take those down until next week on my last day, but almost everything else is packed up. I need to go mail some things at the post office and go meet a friend for a movie.

The final project from my boss didn't get done, the computers decided to revolt and not be co-operative at all. So I feel bad, after all the compleated projects and good work, I end on a note of frustration. *sigh*

Matt hasn't emailed me today either, that puts a definite damper on the day for sure.

I went with a friend to see "Bend it like Beckham". It was seriously the treatment I needed. I feel 110% better, I laughed, I cried, I smiled some more.

Nothing like a good batch of Indian dance music and an Indian wedding to cheer me up.
