Extant pomander beads or Bisamapfel
Apr. 25th, 2007 03:22 pmWhile rummaging around today, I ran across several extant pomander beads or the large metal beads at the end of the paternosters so commonly seen in 15-16th c. German artwork.
They are cataloged under the name "Bisamapfel"
Here's a pretty one from the end of the 15th c.

RealOnline has a couple of others, but I can't link to them directly. They are record #'s 009534 and 009537
To get to them, go to this page, http://www.imareal.oeaw.ac.at/realonline/ and enter the entire number including the zeros into the text box below, then click Zeige Bilder, this will pull up that record.
