I have decided to give up my cell phone. Since I am no longer working and Matt's gotten home I hardly use it, but its kind of been like a security blanket, albeit an expensive one! So, today I am going to have them turn it off. I will miss that feeling of being contactable and being able to contact people anywhere.

What is it about a little piece of plastic and electrical components that can make you feel like you're a Somebody?

umm... can't you have a phonecard so that it soesn't cost you anything? I mean. My mobile phone costs nothing as long as I don't use it...

There are those kind of phones here, but they are pretty uncommon, and they require a differnet set up than what I already have, which would require buying a new phone.... Not really worth it for the 3 calls, maybe, that I make a month.

It's a leash. I hate mine. I have resisted getting one for years and years and finally got one last October. I have to admit it's convenient, but... I hates it, yessss.

I actually ended up chosing the cheapest plan that they have so I can have it just for emergencies. I tried switching it over to the pay as you go plan, but I would have had to buy a new phone to do that.

is that because it must be internet/wap enabled or something funky they do in usa? if only wap then a second hand set from a freind or ebay would be plenty cheap? heck you can have my old matrix phone... (nokia 7210)

Actually, I have a GSM phone right now and it gets signal at the house, whereas my old digital phone didn't, well it did as long as I was outside under a particular tree holding my head at a particular angle.

I would have to switch back to digital in order to go pre-paid time and I don't really want to do that.
