Fun new book on linen that I will have to get from the library,

The European linen industry in historical perspective, ed. Brenda
Collins & Philip Ollerenshaw (Oxford UPr, 2003)

Half way done with writing annotations for the bibliography, back to work for me.

Ooh. Very neat. I like the oh-so-An Tir wet hem on the dress. :)

Did you ever go look at the MedCos site? http://slumberland.org/moodle/course/view.php?id=5

In the last few days it's gotten all spiffed up and has a new "Grade Your Garb" section. You could post this there as well.

Thanks, wet hems are definitly period. ;)

Nope, haven't looked at the MedCos site yet, is it good or is it snarky?

There's not much on the MedCos site. I just joined up, myself. There's about 50-odd people signed up at the moment, but nothing much happening. I think people just don't know how to start the conversation right now... But it looks promising. The best thing is that it's not anonymous, so whoever critiques you is not taking swipes at you from the unknown.

Oh, it looks like you got hit by the "anti-Laurel" person on your AIPON pic, too. LOL! Whoever that person is just cracks me up. Obviously they have no trouble with the over-the-top innacurite "fairisms" out there, but they single out any well made costume that look right and try to slam them for being "sca" or "laurels" or whatever. Total dork. Needs a life. ;)

Yah, the anti-Laurel person cracks me up too, and what's up with the "aprons too clean" comment?

Don't they realize that people actually did laundry and bleached their linen white? Not everybody's a camp follower with a dirty apron. Someday I will document linen as an outer fabric....

It's supposed to be completely non-snarky. It's not anonymous, which is intended to keep the snark away.

It's still a bit slow because people are feeling their way around. Plus the Garb Review module on the site which was supposed to be like AIPON (but not anon, and more interactive) turned out not to work very well, so I took it down last night and replaced it with something else.

I was running the software there anyway, for classes I was teaching, and I decided a while back that it might be useful for an online costuming community. So I set it up and then never really did anything with it, but in the last week or so people convinced me I should do something with the site. So I've been sprucing it up, and recruiting moderators to help with the different specialty areas.

I'm getting close to being equally bored and post my kirtle on AIPON. What's stopping me is that I already have a picture with the loose gown up there. With other sleeves, kirtle (not visible) and headwear, but still.
You look good anyway, if I haven't said that before. I really love both orange and german stuff (But not Landsknecht and typical Cranach so much).

Thanks Eva, I like the non-landsknecht and non-Cranach side of German clothes, not everybody was a Saxon court princess and wore velvet. *sigh*

For what it's worth
