There's this book that I've been coveting at the University of Washington library for the last year and a half, 600+ pages of gorgeous artwork, color photos of stuff I'd only seen in b/w. I lust after this book, but its "Library Use Only", so no checking it out to scan pics out of it. The book title is

Die Gemälde des 16. Jahrhunderts / bearbeitet von Kurt Löcher, unter Mitarbeit von Carola Gries ; technologische Befunde, Anna Bartl und Magdalene Gärtner

Today I was hunting around for a copy, just to see how much the damage to my pocket book would be (since the last time I looked it was around $80+), when I discovered a copy on Amazon for $20! So of course I ordered it.  I'm so happy, estatic with joy!   Yes, I'm an artbook nut, why do you ask?

*sigh* Come here my pretty little paintings....

I can totally relate to the art book addiction. Whenever I travel I end up spending WAY too much on cool art books at museums. When I went to London in October, I had to take several breaks on the 2 BLOCK walk to the tube station because my bag was so weighed down with books!

What time period is this book? My baroness's persona is late German (15th-16th centuries), but doesn't have any matching garb. She's asked me for help, but it's not a location I've ever explored.

Do you have any good suggestions?

Jahrhunderts means century in German, so its 16th century.

If you tell me what her specific date range and location is, I can get you some good resources.

I asked her, and she's pretty vague. ::sigh:: She thinks it was her husband who was going 15th-16th century and she was leaning towards late 1300's. That's the Manesse Codex, right? (I can never remember, even though that's where most of my icons are from, and we've got 3 or 4 banners painted in that style in our house).

As for location, she's going to get back to me, so I'll pass it along then. Her last name is Kunne if that helps place it.

She's very vague and I'm trying to encourage her to pin it down a little and actually make some garb, so anything you think can help her make a decision would be greatly appreciated!
