Caramel Velvet or Chocolate Merino ?

The dress fabric is sort of this color, a little darker and more rich into the golden greens, with slubbed threads in it every once in a while, so that it looks like a heavy silk, but its not.
The brown fabric would be used for guards and accents on the bodice, shoulder treatments and skirt details. Its supposed to be a middle class dress, and I am trying to keep it as middle as possible, but the velvet looks so good with the green fabric. *sigh*

An added consideration is the velvet is about $12 a yard and the wool is $9 AND I have a discount coupon on the wool

Can you use velvet for trim detail on middle class?

I should point out that this is for my sister's middle class gown, Elizabethian, but more of the French, German and Italien influences, ie, no split skirt. I imaging the guards would look something like the ones on Elenora of Toledo's gown from PoF, but I plan on having small sleeve rolls or tabs on the shoulders. Sis doesn't want dress sleeves, she really doesn't want shirt sleeves either, but I told her that a lady would not have had bare arms.

Public Service Announcement: The eyelets on my sister's corset are done. Fini, Accompli YAY!

I am thinking about writing a little tutorial on making eyelets, since I have certainly learned the hard way how NOT to make them. Not that any of them failed, they just looked ugly. "A Dummies step by step guide to making beautiful strong eyelets, in two styles, with illustrations"

Whadda think?

I forgot to post this earlier, but the interview went very well this morning, even though it was at 7:30 am. Lately my brain hasn't reached full momentum until about 9, but that's mainly becuase I have cut out the double espresso shots

Besides the hiring manager being 20 min late, it went really well. We hit it off and I felt like we sorta clicked. He is starting up a new group of about 6-7 people and is looking for a wide range of expertise, looks like my technical SQL Server background may come in handy as they were looking to bring some work in house from the vendor that is exactly like what I used to do. Our styles seem to be similar, he also is a "Get it done" kind of person and not big into bureaucracy, also he finds a lot of satisfaction in making people's lives easier, which is what makes my day too.

The only potential sticking point is the travel I would have to do, I really don't want to be gone even close to 25%, maybe if I am in a more technical role I would be home more?

One of their technical people will be calling me on the phone this week to chat with me about my level of knowledge on the technical side. I should hear back from them either way in the next two weeks or so.

They have 3 positions open, interviewing 15, 150 applied. Pretty amazing uh?

Now I just need to get the address of the hiring manager so I can send him a thank-you card.
