Dyeing mis-adventures and sewing stuff

The green refuses to dye black. This is after trying acid dye and 4 packages of black RIT. Now it is this really dark teal color that I haven't decided if I like or not. It is also fulled. I have decided to give up on it for the time being and use another piece of black fabric in my stash for my brother's doublet. I am really tempted to just bundle the whole thing up and toss it.

My sister's bodice is all sewn together and I figured out the sizing and placement of the shoulder and waist tabs this morning. The green and the brown look good, but I decided it needed a third element and chose a copper/black ribbon yarn that is really cool looking for a trim.

Gardens, cats and new catnip plants

So I go to the fabric store to look for trim, and wouldn't you know it, they don't open until 12 noon. So I head over to Fred Meyer's to pick up some bark mulch and a new sprinkler. I also check out the plant section to see if they are having a new sale, they are and I restrain myself to just buying the ones I know that I need. I bought two rosemary plants, 5 corsican mint plants, 3 cosmos and 2 big lush and healthy catnip plants.

My cat, Ginger-snap, was inside while I was weeding the front flower bed and starting the sprinkler to water the lawn. Thinking it was safe to plant the catnip when he wasn't looking, I dug up the front flower bed and popped them in. As soon as the last little bit of dirt went around the last plant, he was meowing to be let out the front door. So I let him out, even though there is a cat door on the back door. He headed straight for the new plants, and in the course of about 5 min had rolled one flat, eaten one whole stem and dug it up. I was astonished at his effiecency, definitly takes the gold medal for fastest catnip destruction. Fortunatly, I got sturdy healthy plants, I watered it in and so it should be OK.

I think my lower back is going to be killing me tomorrow.
